Shaykh Mohammed Ajwad al-Hashmi is a traditionally trained Islamic scholar who currently runs his own Islamic School in Kuwait regularly conducting classes for over a hundred children in memorization of the Quran and its related sciences.
He is originally from Sri Lanka, where upon completing his secular education he enrolled into a five-year Islamic Sciences program, which instilled in him the desire to dedicate his life to the pursuit of Islamic Knowledge. After graduating from his studies in Sri Lanka he decided to travel to Pakistan where he spent a further four years studying at the prestigious Madrasa Arabia Raiwand. In this time, he completed a rigorous program covering many specialist subjects in Islam, finally graduating with an Alim Degree. He then augmented his Arabic studies by completing an Arabic language fluency program with a famous Egyptian institute.
After completing his full-time Islamic studies, he immigrated to Kuwait where he has been living happily with his wife and children for the past four years. He has been heavily engaged in teaching and previously worked at the Muslim Heritage Centre in Kuwait as well as working as a freelance translator for numerous reputable organizations owing to his linguistic talent and competency in six languages.
Through his love and commitment to the Quran’ic Sciences, his preference is to teach the Quran in the hope of practicing the famous narration of the Prophet (Salalhu alayhi wasalam) in Sahih al-Bukhari “The best amongst you is he who learns the Quran and teaches it.” Shaykh Ajwad specializes in the sciences of Tajweed (elocution), Hifz (memorization), Tafseer (exegesis), Quran’ic Arabic and Shafi’ee Fiqh.
Shaykh Mohammed Daniel Muhajir al-Damishqi currently serves as a consultant to the Director of Public Affairs at the Kuwait Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, having previously worked as a consultant on Western Affairs for the Cultural Sector at the same Ministry.
Throughout his years of studying Islam in Syria, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, he has received personal recognition and authorizations (ijazah) with a traceable chain of narration going back to the Prophet Muhammad in numerous books of Hadith (prophetic traditions) and Fiqh (jurisprudence) from scholars in the Middle East, South Asia and Africa.
He has had the immense privilege of studying under some of the world's leading scholars in their respective fields of Islamic Sciences, including, among others: Shaikh al-Musnid Abdul Wakil bin Abdul Haq al-Hashmi (Makkah), Dr. Mohammed Said Ramadan al-Buti (Syria), Shaikh Thanaullah Khan al-Madni (Pakistan), Dr. Wahba al-Zuhayli (Syria) Sheikh Abdur Razzaq al-Halabi (Syria),
During the years that he studied in Damascus, he was fortunate to study at both of the most famous seats of learning, Mahad Abu Nour and Mahad Fath al-Islami where he read in Azhar University Master’s Degree Program. In his second term at Mahad al-Fath he was requested to teach postgraduate students in the Faculty of Islamic Studies in International Languages, something he gladly took on while simultaneously studying at the Mahad and personally at the hands of renowned scholars.
Ustadha Reem Guerriche has been studying the Islamic Sciences for the past 12 years and during this time she has received permission to teach Quran and Hadith from several of her teachers. She has over 9 years experience teaching Arabic and Quran’ic Sciences to non-Arabs in both France and Kuwait and has worked at numerous establishments including the Kuwaiti Ministry of Awqaf Quran Program, the School for Islamic Upbringing, the Religious Institute of Cordoba, Emanway Foundation, the Women’s Committee of Social Reform Society, Muslim Heritage Society and Islam Presentation Committee.
Originally from Tunisia, but brought up in France she has the privilege of studying both Islamic and secular sciences from a young age. She read business at HEC Paris and then completed her MBA from Universite des Sciences Sociales in 1998.
After completing her university education and having experienced work in the corporate world, she increasingly grew fonder of the Sacred Sciences and decided to take the unconventional path of dedicating the rest of her life to acquiring Islamic knowledge. To this end, she traveled to Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and later to Kuwait where she studied classical texts personally with numerous scholars.
Her love for classical texts motivated her to accept a position of translator at the Kuwait Manuscript Museum. She continues to work as a freelance translator of Islamic texts for numerous publishers internationally as well as teaching Mathematics, Science, Arabic and French to young children and ladies.
