Aqidah Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani



A course on the orthodox Sunni creed by the Maliki Imam Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani (d. 389 AH) from his main work al-Risalah. It is a short treatise on the fundamentals of belief. The author explains the obligatory aspects of Islam, those that should be pronounced by the tongue, believed in the heart and acted upon by the limbs. Originally written for children this text is an ideal way to teach creed.

By the end of the course, a student will learn about the following:


  • Learn everything about Allah, His Names and Attributes and the applied principles in understanding them and many other issues like the Quran, seeing Allah, the punishment of the grave and events that will occur therein, Divine Decree, the companions of Allah's Messenger and other important aspects of faith.
